All my friends say it is weird to have pubic hair and they say to shave it all off. I know this is my choice but I just want to know if shaving down there is the new norm.
When is comes to our bods, nothing can be considered the “norm.” We
all have different preferences, and we shouldn’t attempt to follow any
trends, especially in something as personal as the down there
department. While some of your buds may be pressuring you to shave it
all off, don’t let their gab force you out of your comfort zone.
The facts
You have hair down there for a reason – it helps protect against
bacteria, trapping it before it can enter your body. It also offers a
barrier between your delicate private parts and your clothes. If you
choose to shave it off, you’re leaving your body prone to potential
infections, not to mention way sensitive to rough materials, like the
stiff denim of your skinny jeans. Still, many girls prefer the fully
shaven-look, and that’s 100-percent okay as long as you follow our super
important health tips.
If you’re gonna do it, do it right
If you are gonna shave, there are a couple of things you should
remember to keep your privates nice ‘n’ healthy. Shaving can cause red
bumps and irritate your hair follicles, so be sure to change your razor
often to avoid using a dull blade. Soaking in a warm bath beforehand is
an easy way to prep your pubic hair for shaving. Avoid working out
immediately after you shave because sweat or dirt could enter those
pores and cause infection. Tight clothing could lead to uncomfortable
chaffing. If you do experience reoccurring razor burn, lay off shaving
for a while and let yourself heal.
Remember that all of us girls are different: Some go au natural and
ditch the razor all together and some just shave around the bikini
line, while others opt for a complete shave. Do whatever you feel most
comfortable with. There’s no such thing as normal!
